Biggest Full Moon of the Year Tonight

If you love photographing Yosemite’s majestic cliffs and waterfalls at night tonight may be a great night to do some shooting, if the clouds don’t get in the way.

Tonight the moon will be closest in it’s orbit to the Earth making it appear bigger in the sky. Unfortunately rain and snow are forecast for this evening and that may put a damper on any plans to take pictures of the moon rising behind Half Dome or the wonderful moonbows it could generate.

Also interesting is that Mars will appear to be in close proximity to the moon in the sky and also will be at it’s largest for until 2014! A picture of Half Dome, Mars and the Moon of these proportions could be something you never get to see again.
