Yesterday afternoon, significant fire activity was seen near Tamarack Flat with spotting across the Tioga Road. Air tankers and helicopters attacked these areas aggressively with water and retardant drops.
The Tioga Road remains closed from Crane Flat to White Wolf. There is no trans sierra traffic on the Tioga Road. Those wishing to cross the Sierra are advised to use Highway 108 from Bridgeport on the east or Sonora on the west.
The Big Oak Flat Road is closed from Crane Flat to the Junction with Highway 140 in Yosemite Valley.
The Old Big Oak Flat Trailhead to El Capitan, Rockslides trail to El Capitan, Tamarack Creek trail to El Capitan are all closed due to the fire.
Crane Flat Campground and the Tamarack Flat Campground are closed.
Hetch Hetchy, Hodgon Meadow Campground and Merced Grove are all open and accessible from Highway 120 in the west.
Tuolumne Meadows, White Wolf, Tenaya Lake, Tioga Pass and all trailheads west of White Wolf are still open and accessible from Highway 120 through Lee Vining and Tioga Pass in the east.
Visitors who had planned to use Highway 120 from San Francisco to enter Yosemite Valley or Wawona should use Highway 140 from Merced/Mariposa or Highway 41 from Fresno/Oakhurst. Plan on an additional 1-2 hours to reach your destination.
Yosemite View Lodge is open. Old El Portal is no longer under an evacuation order.
