Big Meadow Fire Scorches 2200 Acres – Only 10% Contained

The Big Meadow Fire has grown to 2,200 acres. No homes have been lost in the blaze but residents of Foresta and campers in the Crane Flat Campground were evacuated as a precaution. Foresta, Highway 120 and Crane Flat are closed indefinitely.

Currently 500 firefighters, three helicopters, four air tankers, and 24 engines from Mariposa County, Stanislaus National Forest, Sierra National Forest, and Cal Fire are battling the fire.

At this time the fire is currently 10% contained.(NPS)
