You’d mentioned on your blog that Hwy 140 had opened, but wanted to let you know that it closed back up—apparently another rock slide within a day or so of it opening. Thought you would want to know. We took 120 this weekend, which was fine. It was interesting bicycling through the snow in the valley on Saturday. A definite first. Traffic was horrendous, for those who were driving around the valley over the weekend. I saw a couple of wedding parties stuck in complete gridlock, on their way over to the Ahwahnee trying to make a 6 pm ceremony. I don’t think there was any way they were going to make it. But, the buses were stuck in the jam, too, so they were kind of out of luck & options, other than making the trek in high heels and long dresses. Love the blog, keep it up!
Hey thanks for the update Jennifer and it’s great to hear from the readers. Yup, 140 is closed again. From what I’m hearing Caltrans is doing their best but it’s still pretty unstable.

This is just a minor correction but from what the employees of Yosemite have been saying, Cal Trans had pulled the contractor from Hwy 140 and pulled out themselves because the area was too dangerous. We were told that they weren’t even going to look at the road for two weeks. Then today 5/30 it slid big time and covered the road with debris even going into the river. It’s very tough on the employees living in Mariposa because they have a 2 hours commute each way, commuting with tourist traffic. Believe me they are tired!!!
