  • Photo of the Day: On The Way Out by Tony Immoos

Today’s Photo of the Day is another beautiful shot by Tony Immoos. Since I’m so tired tonight my daughter Katie will be filling in to give the narrative. Go for it sweety: “jn; ji n bw dfuj b s,nDS” I agree. Nice shot, Tony. Photo by Tony Immoos.

  • Got an Old Photo I Can Use?

So I’m working on the new Yosemite Blog theme and I came across a stumbling block. Does anyone have a picture of an old piton I can use? Also some old climbing photos, black and white preferably? Also any old, old, old camping pictures from the 20’s-40’s. I’m looking for things to show the history…

  • Photo of the Day: Owl’s Clover by Joe Christianson

Today’s Photo of the Day is a beautiful wildflower shot by Joe Christianson. Joe’s profile says that he’s a “teen photographer” but don’t let that fool you, he’s got “mad skillz”. *cough* Ok, I’ll stop trying to be cool now. But seriously, check out Joe’s other work on his Flickr Photo Stream and if you…

  • Campground Openings: Lower and North Pines

Lower Pines and North Pines Campgrounds in Yosemite Valley have opened for the season.

  • Photo of the Day: Water Fall by Zeke Franko

You may remember yesterday we featured a photo by Zeke Franco of a granite stair that seemed to lead to thin air. Today’s Photo of the Day is another beautiful shot by Zeke. I really loved the saturation and exposure on this one. Great work, Zeke. Photo by Zeke Franco.

  • Plowing Begins on Glacier Point Road – No Word on Tioga Road

Snow removal operations have begun on the Glacier Point Road. No word yet on the Tioga Road but I’d guess sometime soon after this storm passes. Lots of snow melting in the high country due to the beautiful spring weather we’ve been having.

  • Mist Trail Open For Season

The Mist Trail is now open for the season. The “Ice Cut”, Clark Point to Nevada Fall, on the John Muir Trail is still closed due to hazardous ice build up.

  • Photo of the Day: Stairs by Zeke Franco

I’m always looking for new and interesting angles to places I’ve been before, things I’ve neever thought of and today’s Photo of the Day is no exception. Zeke Franco took this awesome shot on the way to Chinualnua Falls. I like the way it seems like you’re ascending to the sky. Nice work, Zeke. Photo…

  • Photo of the Day: After the Storm by Mike Jung

I love clouds. I especially love clouds when they’re swirling around snow covered granite peaks. That’s why this awesome photo by Mike Jung was a shoe-in for Photo of the Day. Great shot, Mike. Photo by Mike Jung via Flickr.

  • Geology Nuts Go Nuts Over Latest Yosemite Rock Fall

There are only 3 things that’ll really excite a geologist: 1) volcanic activity (muahahahha), 2) massive earthquakes, 3) massive rock falls. Needless to say last weeks Ahwiyah Point rock fall has geology nuts pouring in from all over. One nut in particular, my former Geology Professor Garry Hayes, posted some great photos and narratives from…
