Be Safe Around The Rivers – It’s Up to You

In On the Trail, Safety

Docentjoyce posted this photo she took of the Merced River on Monday, May 18, 2009. Gives you a pretty good idea why it’s so difficult to find someone if they fall in.

The rivers and streams are at their peak right now. Please, please, please exercise extra caution around water in the park this Memorial Day weekend.

Stay as far away as you can. Don’t scramble on the rocks around the river and waterfalls. Granite becomes extra slippery when it’s the slightest bit damp making it just that much easier to fall in. You may have the perfect shot in mind but you don’t want it to be the last thing your friends remember you doing.

Great video, Joyce. Thanks for posting it.
