Check out this interesting map of the Rim Fire. It has all the firelines marked on it which makes it REALLY interesting. You can see the things the fire crews focused on, you can see lines that were cut and overrun by the fire and you can see where the fire is still burning.
I know I’m a little late but in case you missed it, the Tioga Road and Highway 120 through Yosemite are open to traffic once again. Best get your business done on the other side before winter gets here and it closes again. Cold weather is already on it’s way. If you were planning on heading east to see the aspens changing color, go now.
Good thing it’s the start of the slow season in Yosemite right?
Great news for everyone who has been following, the Rim Fire has reached 80% containment. Evacuation advisories have been lifted along Highway 108 from Ponderosa Hills to Pinecrest.
As of last night the Rim Fire is over 70% contained but continues to pose a threat as high winds and extremely dry conditions within the Sierra persist.
