  • Snow Snow Snow!

If you’ve never had a chance to experience a snow storm in Yosemite from the relative safety and warmth of a cabin or hotel room the next best thing is to keep your eyes glued to the Yosemite Association webcams in the park. Here are two beautiful shots I caught this morning off the Ahwahnee…

  • Lull between storms.

Images from this morning are now on flickr, with more to come. We’re in the lull between storms. According to NPR station KXJZ there’s another 2′ of snow in the Sierra before tonight.

  • N. King Huber

The above name is one you need to get familiar with. If you are at all interested in the geology of Yosemite National Park, he was the guru. Although he passed away in February, I wanted to let you know about him in case you’re not. Dr. King had impressive credentials – U.S. Geological Survey…

  • Loyd’s right. Don’t come to Yosemite.

We are getting hammered with snow. It’s heavy, wet, slushy snow, too. I’m from New England, lived there for 16 years, and I know how to drive in snow without chains. I won’t drive in this stuff. Wait it out, watch the weather reports. I’ll be posting pictures when I can. It’ll be gorgeous once…

  • Missing Clovis Family Found Safe

A Clovis family reported missing after they left town Thursday morning to “go play in the snow” before being caught in one of the worst storms to hit California in years was found just after nightfall in good condition near Fresno Dome in Sierra National forest. San Jose Mercury News: A Madera County Sheriff’s Department…

  • Storm in the Sierra

Just tried to go to Oakhurst via Rt 41, and opted not to complete the journey short of Chinquapin. Rain and high winds are making the road dangerous. NPR reported that I80 is closed west of Truckee due to snow. Back down in the valley itself, it’s pretty calm, with rain.

  • Badger Pass Closed due to high winds

Badger Pass just made the call to close today due to high winds. It’s always a tough decision, but safety has to come first. I wish I had a pic for you guys, maybe video would be better, but I’m stuck down in the Valley in the rain.  It’s going to be great skiing up…

  • Send Us Your News and Photos

If you live, work or are in the park and have breaking news or would like to send us condition updates please call our tip line at (209) 846-2112. The call is free from inside the park. If you have access to email or you can send photos from your cell phone you can email…

  • Don’t Go!

If you’re headed up to Yosemite this weekend or next, DON’T. That’s right. I said don’t go. The current weather forecast is for heavy rain, wind and snow for at least the next week. This storm is expected to carry on through next Friday January 11th so grab a good book, your favorite movie and…
